Instantly Update Your Kitchen With Cabinet Knobs

If your looking to update your kitchen but don't have the excess time or money it takes to do a complete renovation, your answer could be as simple as screwing a knob into a cabinet door.

Adding cabinet door knobs to your plain cabinets don't only make it easier to open and close the doors. This simple addition lets you add a sense of style to your kitchen design. There are so many beautiful and functional choices out there, the possibilities are endless.

As for me, I decided to go with the bronze look to tie the kitchen into the rest of the house. Since all of my fixtures and door knobs are also bronze, this completed to look of my home.

All it took was an hour and a half to install the door knobs and the kitchen looked instantly dressed up and complete when done.

I bought the door knobs from The Home Depot. There were many finishes, shapes and styles to choose from.

I must say that I love the outcome!!

DIY Thanksgiving Leftovers Bag

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, I'm sure your getting all of your last minute dinner and party preparation in order. One largely over looked item for dinner guests are take home or "leftover" bags.

There are so many options out there for personalizing your leftovers bags. But if you find yourself in the eleventh hour of dinner planning and have no time to run out to the store and find special take out bags, no need to worry. Here is a quick and easy way to add some festivity and to personalize your guests leftovers.

What You Need

  • Any size brown paper bag. (The larger, the better)
  • Chalk
  • Chalkboard tags ($1, Target)

How to Make It

  • Take the paper bag and punch out a hole at the top of the bag. If you don't have a hole puncher, just use a pen and press the point through to make a hole.
  • Take the chalkboard tag and chalk. Write your guests name and a funny or cute note if there's room
  • Un-tie the string and fish the string through the whole in the paper bag. Re-tie string.
  • Place on the side for your guests to add what they want to there bag.

 It's that easy. The whole process took me less than 5 minutes to make. This is even a fun project that you can have the kids do while your meal prepping.

DIY Pumpkin Candle Holders

Fall is here again! Time to comfy up your home decor.

Nothing sets the comfy mood of a home more than candles and candle light. After pumpkin picking with the kids, I had extra mini pumpkins laying around the house. So I put them to use by turning them into candle holders.

Here's how to make your DIY Pumpkin Candle Holders for your home.

Start with these items

  • Small pumpkins
  • Tea Light Candles
  • Sharp knife
  • Sharpie or pen (not shown)
  • Spoon (not shown)

Start with your mini pumpkin top side up. Break the steam off if your pumpkin has one.

Using a tea light candle, place the candle on the top of the pumpkin (where the steam would be).

Trace the shape of the tea light candle to create a circle in the middle of the pumpkin.

Using the knife, cut along the circle that you made on the pumpkin. Make sure not to cut all the way through to the bottom. Just above halfway into the pumpkin should be fine. Pop the top off.

Scoop out the inside meat of the pumpkin. Be sure to leave some of the meat inside on the bottom - so that your candle wont sink too far into the cut hole.

If your like me, you probably scooped out too much :-) If so, just turn one candle upside down and stack the other candle right side up on top.

Lastly, stick the tealight into the cut out hole.  Light your candle and enjoy!

DIY Dr. Seuss Quotes Canvas

I've always wanted to complete this DIY project but just haven't had the time to get around to it until recently. With Dr. Seuss' birthday having just passed as well as March being National Reading Awareness month, this was the perfect time to complete my project. 

I wanted to share it with you all, so that you too can try this out at home. It will be great as wall art for your kids bedroom or playroom. 

What You'll Need

  • Large canvas
  • I used a left over canvas that I had in the house already. I just painted over what was on it
  • Acrylic Paint
  • White, Blue and dark Gray
  • Paint brushes -Different sizes help. I used thinner ones to paint the quotes and thicker ones to paint the background
  • Painters tape
  • Graphite Paper
  • Plastic Paint cups (Optional) 

 If you are using an old canvas (like I did), start off by painting over the previous painting that is on there. My husband originally used this canvas to start an art project, but never completed it. This also explains the texture of the canvas and why it looks "bumpy". I personally don't mind the texture. 

Next, create your sections and separate them with the painters tape. I measured everything with a ruler to make sure the sections would be even. Also, it helps to know exactly how many quotes you want to use, so you'll know how many sections to create.

Again, the texture that you see was created from the previous painting that I painted over.

Next, paint each section with alternating colors - to create a pattern. Here, I used blue and white. You can also use red and white to stay along with the Dr. Seuss theme (or which ever color you prefer).

Once the alternating colors have dried, go back and re-tape small sections between the colors to create a border. For this, I used dark gray. Black also works well, I just used gray because I had that color left over from a previous project. 

Next, print out the quotes that you want to use onto plain paper. Make sure that the font size and style are exactly how you want it to come out on the canvas. Take your graphite paper and tape it to the canvas.

Cut out the words and arrange them onto the graphite paper, taping them into place.

Once you've set up the wording correctly, start tracing. Lift the paper and graphite paper off of the canvas and you will see that the quotes have transferred over. 

Next, take your paint and fill in the words.

This is what you'll end up with. This was a fun weekend project! The kids loved the way it came out.

Sadly, even if you purchased an organizing solution to keep their cars in order, you may find that it creates more chaos than order. A nice bin may seem like a great organizing solution to throw his toy cars into - but what happens when he goes searching for his favorite red race car? Out go the cars - all over the floor.

Well, worry no more!! Here is a genius and visually stunning way to organize all of your kid's mini toy cars:

DIY Customized Clothes Hook

A good way to stay ahead of your morning rush is to pick your clothes out the night before. The question is where do you put your clothes once you've picked them out? 

Sometimes, there's no place to lay your clothes on without it getting wrinkled. So here is an extremely helpful and super adorable option for your "next day outfit" to hang on: 

A customized clothes hook.

This DIY Customized Clothes hook is so easy to make. You can put your very own phrase or word in the frame and you can choose a frame that matches your room decor. I chose the simple phrase "Tomorrow's Outfit" for this one.

My frame also has two hooks on it, but you can put just one hook in the middle of the frame if that works better for you. 

What You'll Need

  • 2 screws
  • Nail-less Saw-tooth Hanger
  • Hammer
  • Decorative Hooks (make sure the top of the hook is plain and flat to ensure that it will screw onto frame properly)
  • Screwdriver or drill
  • Picture Frame (which ever size you prefer. Mine is a 4"x 6" picture frame from Home Goods)
  • Printing paper (preferably photo paper. So your design will come out with a vivid color)

Choose and design what phrase or word you want to go into the frame. I made my phrase and design in Photoshop. Canva.com or picmonkey.com are two great sites that you can also make your design on.

Next, print out your design.

Measure a spot on your door, wall or in your closet where you want to hang the frame hook.

Drill (or screw with screwdriver) screws into wall where you want to hang the frame hook. Make sure the screws are separated enough to fit snug inside Nail-less Saw-tooth Hanger

Insert Nail-less Saw-tooth Hanger into back top of picture frame. Use a hammer if it is difficult to push in with your bare hands. Don't pound the hammer too hard, you don't to ruin the frame.

Nailess Sawtooth Hangers are available in most hardware stores

Now, screw or drill your hooks into back bottom of frame.

My hooks were missing a screw. So I just used one of my own.

Next, insert your design into frame and hang frame up on wall or door.

Choose a fabulous outfit and hang it on your new customized clothes hook!

Now picking out your clothes the night before work or school has never been so fun!
